For Daniel Kok, the cheerleader is the embodied figure of neoliberalist optimism.  As a Singaporean artist based in Berlin and Brussels when the Eurozone crisis came to a head, and the idea of the European community was thrown into question, cheerleading was a practice in testing the role of the performer as he encounters the public through relations of acquiescence and  coalescence. How do spectators become an audience? How can Europeans cheer together now?
